Public Safety Coordination Center
Springfield/Greene County, Missouri

The new PSCC will be approximately 50,000 sq feet and will be designed for Silver LEED certification and 24/7 operation. The main building will be hardened to mitigate all natural and technological risks, to include tornados, floods, earthquakes, and pandemic events. The center will include offices for the Emergency Operation Center, Multi-Agency Coordination Center, Regional Joint Information Center, multi-use areas, Greene County Information Systems server room, and an alternate EOC for the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency. The PSCC will also include other potential future public safety partners to include the FBI, Sheriff's Office Administration, and Springfield Fire Headquarters.

A significant training component is critical to the mission of the facility. The PCSS includes classrooms that are flexible to accommodate seating of 20 to 80 people. There is also a "theater style" classroom that accommodates 40 people. Technology and audio-visual support allows classrooms to provide a variety of training scenarios, including configuration as a "hot center" with communications/dispatch consoles that can be utilized in a disaster activation situation to provide enhanced communications operability.

Charleston County Consolidated 9-1-1, Communications and Operations Center
Charleston County, South Carolina

Architects Design Group is currently providing the Space Needs Assessment, Master Planning and Design for the Charleston County Consolidated 9-1-1, Communications and Operations Center. The project will consist of a building to consolidate both the EOC and 911 call center functions in one structure, and will also include a backup data center for Charleston County and a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). The project will include office space for both the 9-1-1 and EOC operations, a small food service facility, and redundant electrical and water backup systems to remain functional for at least 72 hours after a storm or emergency event. The exterior envelope will be designed for a Category 4 storm (1331-155 mph winds) and large missile impact protection.

St. Petersburg Police Department
St. Petersburg, Florida

Architects Design Group recently completed the analysis of the spatial needs of the City of St. Petersburg Police Department with 545 sworn officers, 250 non-sworn personnel and approximately 150 volunteers. Currently accommodated in an antiquated facilities a product of numerous additions and separate facilities, resulting in a fragmentation of its various divisions. Projections of space need were based upon series of in depth interviews with each division, forms and analysis of their existing facilities as well as a series of presentations to command staff as well as city administrative staff.

Current spatial needs, based upon the analysis, indicated that the department needed approximately 225,750 sq ft, plus an additional 12,763 sq ft for an associated Emergency Operations Center, with an estimated construction value of $64,110,260. In total, five different options were analyzed and presented to the city as a means of providing them with sufficient information as to arrive at an "informed decision".

The study also included a review and/or discussion relative to such issues as: survivability, green building design criteria, as well as a preliminary analysis of the proposed site of the new facility.

Washington Police Department
Washington, North Carolina

The City of Washington, North Carolina, located at the head of the Pamlico River in the Carolina "inner banks," is currently providing law enforcement services from an obsolete building that is beyond its useful life and susceptible to flooding. Architects Design Group is providing the City with complete planning and design services for a new facility. The project is expected to be funded through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development FMHA Financing program. ADG's initial planning activities prepared a Space Needs justification and Site Feasibility analysis to help secure funding. Constraints and opportunities guiding the planning activities include selecting an appropriate site located outside the 500-year flood zone that affects the majority of the City limits; and developing a concept for the facility reflecting the Department's commitment to "community oriented policing". ADG has created a concept for the project that provides a 20,000 square foot single-story building, arranging the site plan to include a civic plaza, multi-layered approach to security, a community meeting room, and full-service operations and administrative spaces.

Fort Myers Fire Administration
Fort Myers, Florida

ADG is providing planning and design services to the City of Fort Myers for it's Fire Station No. 1 and Administration Facility. The facility is to be located in the heart of the downtown Fort Myers area, and will contribute to the urban renewal of this riverfront city. The City of Fort Myers, located in southwest Florida/Lee County is one of the fastest growing regions in the country. Fort Myers is transitioning into a true urban environment, with an increasing number of high-rises under construction and support for mixed-use development opportunities.

The current Fire Station No. 1 serves the downtown area and is also the Department's main "hub" station. The existing station, built in 1950 and renovated in 1982, no longer meets the needs of the growing Department. The new facility will provide the City with a state-of-the-art Fire Station No. 1 which will also effectively provide the many centralized Department functions, including the storage of reserve and specialized apparatus, equipment maintenance and repair, fire rescue training and public education programs. The facility will also bring the Department's Fire Administration and Fire Prevention services back under one roof, in conjunction with the fire station, to streamline operations and more efficiently utilize common space needs requirements.

ADG has completed the initial programming tasks, with a spatial need asssessment, site evaluation and concept master plan. Design will commence in 2010, with an anticipated start date for construction in 2011.

Dallas White Park
North Port, Florida

ADG is currently assisting the City of North Port Florida with an assessment of City facilities. The community, incorporated in June 1959, reflects the changing demographics of the State. The estimated population of 47,770 people occupies an area of 103 square miles in southeast Sarasota County. It is one of Florida's largest cities in land area but is only 10 percent populated. Total build-out of the City is expected to exceed 200,000 population. The City's Comp Plan, updated in 1997, established a goal of achieving a healthy balance of commercial, residential and industrial land uses. ADG is identifying the type, size and location of critical municipal service facilities to support the City's growth. A critical aspect of ADG's work is to help establish a vibrant system of parks and open-space that is a critical element necessary for the envisioned quality of life the community seeks.
