Joint Grand Prairie / Irving Public Safety Training Facility

ADG was selected to provide the strategic planning for the Joint Grand Prairie / Irving Public Safety Training Facility to include the fire departments’ burn building, training tower, field operations training facility, the Irving Police Department’s EVOC course, firing range, and the West Irving District Operations facility.

This complex co-located various first responders under a single hardened structure in a campus setting, sharing the critical infrastructure systems redundancies required to maintain the continuity of government operations during, and immediately after, a significant event.

The build-out will continue to be implemented over time as bonds are sold and funding is appropriated by the city. Phase one included the enclosed vehicle training / parking facility which contains parking for eight fire apparatus, as well as a burn building, drill tower, and training building for the Grand Prairie and Irving Fire Departments. Phase two of the project will include the development of a 25-lane, 50-yard indoor shooting range for the Irving Police Department, as well as relocating the entire operations of the Irving Police and Fire Departments to this site which is estimated to be 174,229 SF.
