Boone County EOC and 911 Facility

The Boone County Emergency Communications and Operations Center was designed to accommodate space for 911 communications, the office of emergency management, an emergency operations center, and county IT functions. The building houses a large incident command center and 24 dispatch positions. Also included in the facility was a kitchen, dining area, dormitory, locker and restroom facilities, training rooms, and equipment / utility spaces.

The EOC / 911 center was strategically located adjacent to the Boone County Sheriff’s Jail and Sheriff’s Annex Facilities on 4.2 acres of county-owned property in Columbia, Missouri. Parking was divided into public parking for visitors and secure staff parking. The site and building program were sized to allow for current and future needs of the 911 communication department, as well as the ability to provide future expansion of the office of emergency management and EOC. The project was designed with survivable building envelop criteria and meets FEMA 361 standards. Redundant electrical power, water, and sanitary systems were provided on-site, as well as redundant telecommunications services with three sources of connectivity.
