FEATURED PROJECT

Orange County Landfill Operations and Maintenance Facility
Orange County, Florida

ADG was selected by the Orange County Board of Commissioners to provide comprehensive planning and design services necessary to satisfy the facilities needs. The new facility construction program provides administrative office space for operations and environmental groups. A 12 bay "state-of-the-art" maintenance facility was built to effectively service the equipment used in the land-filling operations which includes: front end loaders, transfer trailer, and a steel-wheeled earth moving vehicle. Space for employees muster, break and training was also provided. Site development accommodated parking for 175 vehicles.

Tampa 40th Street Public Works Complex
City of Tampa, Florida

This Public Works Complex for the City of Tampa, Florida is located on 11 acres of land. The project consolidates activities from several satellite locations, including: Administration, Maintenance, Operations and Warehouse/Storage. The complex is a staging area for activities required by the northern half of the City.

ADG successfully resolved the major challenge of integrating the complex within an ecologically sensitive, site, left undeveloped in an industrial zone with numerous mature oak trees. ADG conducted a series of planning charrettes with facility users and prepared a careful site analysis. Zones of activity were created based on the potential impact on the ecology and the broader land use context. The complex includes parking for 150 employees and storage for over 200 public works operations vehicles, maintenance equipment, materials and storage areas; all interspersed within "ecological zones" of the site. Upon completion of the project, ADG was recognized by the Tampa Chapter and Florida Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) as "Architect" and "Project of the Year".

33rd Street Central Energy Plant
Orlando, Florida

ADG designed this $1.5 million facility located at Orange County's 33rd Street Complex in Central Florida. The facility provides centralized energy management for this eighty-seven million dollar mixed use complex. This facility also provides emergency electrical power, and hot and cold water for mechanical systems. Its energy management systems were designed to serve current and future components of the complex as well as the fire alarm and life safety systems.

The complexity of utility distribution and monitoring is extensive and incorporates state-of-art systems capable of being modified to accommodate technological advances. A critical component is the necessity to have continuation of uninterrupted utility service, particularly relative to the type of service provided at this complex.

ADG utilized OSHA-ANSI approved color systems to create a functional working facility for maintenance support and to provide an enjoyable, colorful, and most importantly, a safe working environment. The structure reflects ADG's use of advanced technology and systems. This central energy building location relates to its central and basic function which is to provide service for a major detention center.

The building was constructed of concrete, steel and scored CMU's and utilized steel decking, steel bar joints and load bearing CMU's. This structure was awarded an Honor Award for Design Excellence by the Mid-Florida Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

New Port Richey Public Works Complex
New Port Richey, Florida

The City of New Port Richey Public Works Complex accommodates Administration, Engineering, Storm-water Utility, and Street/R.O.W. Operations. A Purchasing Warehouse and FLEET Maintenance facility are also incorporated into the Complex. Planning of the facilities concluded that a two-phase approach to accommodating the needs provides the City several benefits. Phase One will create a new Operations Center on a 13 acre site located ¼ mile from the existing facility. Phase Two will renovate and expand vacated space at the current facility.

The Phase One Operations Complex is located on a ecologically sensitive site with a wetlands conservation area. The site was carefully analyzed to minimize wetland impacts and the need for wetland mitigation. The entrance drive follows a ridge between wetland areas. The Operations Complex is located on the uplands portion of the site. The Complex is designed as a "compound" with the long bar of the Operations Building oriented north/south securing the operations yard. Covered storage buildings for equipment flank the yard on the east and south edges. The buildings are designed with "sustainable building" techniques including optimal solar orientation, day lighting high efficiency HVAC and use of recycled materials.

Hernando County Public Works and Mutli-Use Complex
Hernando County, Florida

ADG provided programming, master planning, and design services for the Hernando County Multi-Use Complex. The complex contains the Public Works Administration, Engineering, Road Maintenance, Fleet Maintenance, Traffic, and Mosquito Control Departments.

The public works complex building is arranged for employee and public parking accessibility from SR 50. County vehicles Fueling Facilities are included to meet the needs of the county vehicles. Multi-Use layout allows for future expansion on both east and west ends of the complex. The project delivery method, construction manager (CM) at risk, was selected to promote value engineering and cost savings.

Palm Bay Public Works Facility
Palm Bay, Florida

This Public Works Facility is "state-of-the-art" in vehicle maintenance facilities, with ten drive-through bays, paired about a service corridor. The facility includes approximately 1,100 square feet of maintenance / storage functions and 3,000 square feet of administrative support spaces. The facility was been master planned to accommodate future growth as established by user demand.

The Palm Bay Public Works and Fleet Maintenance Facility is organized around a double-loaded corridor accentuated by a continuous skylight. The various functional units are located on either side of the corridor, which acts as a systems distribution center for the overhead lubrication system as well as for air, water, and power and other services. Accessed along this spline are along the Administrative Services warehouse, carpentry and sign shops, tool storage / distribution, and parts storage areas.
