Marion County Judicial Facility

This complex consists of a unified judicial complex with a courts center, the renovation of the existing courthouse and modifications to the county annex building. Architects Design Group provided all planning, programming, master planning, design, and construction administration services related to this major expansion of facilities for The Marion County Judicial System.

The complex accommodates all judicial functions including the Courts, State Attorney's Office, Public Defender's Office, Clerk of the Court's Office, Sheriff's Civil Division and other related judicial services.

The Citrus County Judicial Center consists of a 46,000 square foot addition to the existing courthouse, designed to accommodate all judicial functions, the Clerk of the Court, and security areas for the Sheriff's Office. After the completion of the addition, ADG, designed improvements to the existing Courthouse to provide facilities for the primary offices and functions of all County Constitutional Offices.

The new Judicial Center incorporates five courtrooms in addition to several mediation and hearing spaces. It will utilize innovative systems technology in order to improve functional characteristics and to provide spatial flexibility; including such elements as video conferencing for hearings, data imaging, courtroom technology (computer, video, imaging evidence presentation etc.) and similar elements.

ADG was selected by Gilchrist County to provide planning and design services for the estimated 28,000 square foot Judicial Facility which housed all the judiciary and support staff, along with bringing the existing facility into compliance with the ADA standards with all State, fire, health, and safety codes. The new facility is located in Trenton, Florida and is part of the 8th Judicial Circuit.

The complex was designed as a multi-jurisdictional facility, programmed to accommodate a variety of City, County, and State agencies. It was funded by a variety of sources that include the State Supreme Court, the City of Huntington, and Cabell County. It consists of approximately 75,000 square feet and was master planned to be located in proximity to the existing Cabell County Courthouse.

The project is anticipated to play an important role in the redevelopment of downtown Huntington and to serve as a catalyst for continued growth. The most important role of the new complex, however, is to provide adequate and modern facilities for the various entities of the criminal justice system.

This judicial facility incorporates the courts and offices of the 7th Judicial Circuit. Architects Design Group analyzed the judicial needs of the Circuit and subsequently provided design services for the design/build facility.

This three-story, 80,000 square foot structure, incorporates all of the functions necessary for the efficient operation of an independent judicial facility: Courts, Judge's offices, Clerk of the Court offices, State Attorney's offices, Public Defender's offices, Witness Management offices, Court Reporter offices, holding cells and Security offices, are included in the complex.

The facility is located in an urban area of downtown Daytona Beach, in close proximity to other existing and planned county facilities. Its design includes modern concepts of judicial planning, including critical security systems, controlled access and separate means of circulation for the public, judicial services and prisoners. Its relationship to the site was designed to permit a pedestrian access to a major bus terminal (VOTRAN) which was designed by ADG under a separate contract with Volusia County.
