Orlando Police Department Training and Firing Range FacilityOrlando, Florida The facility is approximately 67,000 sq ft in total area. All exterior walls are concrete tilt wall construction, and accommodate 55 climate-controlled firing lanes. This multi-purpose Training Facility includes; three large training classrooms, lockers/restrooms, storage, administrative offices and the following ranges:
Extensive design consideration was given to the need to replicate "real life" training scenarios. The facility was designed with the ability to create flexible barriers, walls, and cover with an insert-able panel for replicating "real life" scenario's allowing the Orlando Police Department to train on aspects of traffic stops, multiple adversaries, working on scanning and avoiding tunnel vision, decision making targets (good guy / bad guy & shoot / no shoot) and hostage drills. The facility can also recreate a variety of "low light" conditions again, replicating "real life" gun fight situations. While the national average for "hits" in a gun fight 7 yards and closer is about 20%; OPD's average for hits is nearly 80% |
